Over the Years

We have had so much fun with our friends, family and even by ourselves..

Left: Randy taking a swim in the pond. The life jackets are so he can float and relax.  The straw hat is so the August heat won't fry what little brains he has left.

Betty in 1995 Betty had to take every window out of the old house and fix them. Here she is painting around one of the livingroom windows.
First Christmas Dinner in the old house 1995 The old house was barely livable and we only used it on the weekends. We didn’t want the first year we were in the house to go by without having a Christmas dinner. We invited our Round Top friends to join us for this first Christmas dinner in Round Top. They came and we all had a wonderful time.
Randy spraying the primer coat on the entire inside of the house 1995 Betty spent many weekends sanding all the walls so it was time to put the primer coat of paint on all the walls and ceiling of the house. The quickest way to do this was to spray the walls and ceiling. The floors had not been sanded yet so we didn't have to worry about them. This worked great
Campfire cookouts at the Melton's house. Years before we had our fire pit we would have campfires in the yard. It is always great fun to invite friends over in the winter and have a campfire. The ladies sing and the guys put more wood on the fire.
Our first Christmas open house 1997 It was great fun the open house started at 2:00 p.m. and went on until after dark. People came and went all afternoon.
Betty staining the floor of the back porch 1998 We had the back porch added to the house in 1996 and thought we would allways use it as a screened in porch. We soon came to the conclusion that we needed the room for other things. We enclosed it and it became our laundry room, half bath, and electronic charging counter.
Hanlen fishing crew 2006 The guys had been wanting to come up from Houston and do some fishing. Well it was a warm day in April but they came and caught fish. The young fathers are trying their best to keep the boys under control while this picture is being taken. The grandfather simply gets to spoil the boys, thus not making it any easier on the fathers.
March 2010. Another year and more campfires. We enjoy our campfires, we try to have two or three a year. Friends come over and we all stay warm by the fire, singing, eating, and making smores.
Oct. 2008 Another campfire with our friends.
March 2013 Randy Melton and Gary Holba holding up the T shirts they had made to show their support for their wives. Our wives work out and run like they are athletes and we support them so we decided . . . . . . . . . . . . this makes us "ATHLETIC SUPPORTERS"
Nov. 2008 Book Club meeting Our turn to have the girl’s book club meet at our house. The ladies have their book club meeting and the guys show up two hours later. Just in time to all eat supper. This is my kind of book club.
The Round Top freeze of January 2007 Believe it or not it does get a little cold in the country some times. This ice was formed after three days of 25 degree temps at night and did not get above 30 degrees during the days.
Feb. 2013 Another campfire, now we have our new metal fire ring. We love having friends and family over for a campfire.
July 2013 Our tenth after the parade lunch. As soon as the parade is over we go by the Rifle Hall and pick bar-b-q. Then we all gather at our house to eat in AIR-CONDITIONING.

Friends from Houston and relatives from Castroville arrive to another campfire evening. A bit of visiting before the cookout begins.
