June 10th, 2015 Construction Begins

Pictures will be added as the construction progresses.

June 10th: Location where master bathroom will be located.

The room will be 16' X 15 '.

The roof and footing have already been built.

Lumber being delivered.

Our contractor Jay Robinson waves to the camera.

June 11: The outside frame has been put in place.

June 12th: Jay has the base and floor joists in.

June 16: The plumbing starts going in, these are all drain pipes.

June 17: All drain pipes are in. Jay puts down the one inch thick decking.

June 18: Back wall and shower is framed.

June 23: Side wall is framed

June 26: The inside takes shape, with walls.

The outside red cedar goes on the two outside walls.

June 28: Randy and Wayne (a friend) help unload old long leaf pine, tongue and grove flooring.

July 2: Betty shows the progress of inside wall of bathroom.

Back wall with windows in shower and above where whirlpool tub will go.

July 7: Jay putting the windows together to go into the bathroom.

July 8: Ceiling is insulated and individual boards go in to make the ceiling.

July 9: Ceiling over the Jacuzzi and shower is put in.

July 13: Walls get rock board, shower pan gets membrane and mortar pan.

It needs to dry over night. Next is the river-stone floor and tile walls.

July 14: Tile goes on walls of shower.

This window will be taken out and door goes here, to enter bathroom.

July 15: Betty cleans 8"X 8" beam to put in bathroom.

Jay cuts beam to size.

July 16: Flat river stone is put in as the shower floor.

July 27: Old bathroom is being taken out.

August 6: Finishing the ceiling.

288 Pieces make up the ceiling.

August 14: Betty in walk-in-closet where custom ironing board will be placed in the wall. Closet ready for painting.

Jay puts bats on outside boards. Then it is ready to be painted.

August 16: Jay's wood shop set up in front of garage.

August 17: Fixtures stored in garage to go into master bathroom.

August 18:(entrance to walk-in-shower) Jay puts in place and hangs from the 8" X 8" old wood beam.

August 19: Testing the whirlpool tub.

August 20: Door going into attic is put in.

Mirror is hung from barn rail so mirror slides over to reveal medicine cabinet.

Aug 21: Laundry room is opened.

Electrical is put in for bathroom.

Aug 22: Hallway before it is painted.

Tub is put in place and walkway wall is put in.

Aug 24: Tub is covered so painters can paint the room.

Outside walkway wall is enclosed.

Aug 27: Kelly delivers master bathroom vanities.

Vanities are stored in garage until floors are put in bathroom.

Aug 28: Walk-in-closet is painted.

Aug 29: Hall wall is painted.

Backside of laundry room.

Randy's mirror in place.

Betty's mirror is in place.

Toilet cafe doors are painted and hung.

Walls around the tub have been tiled.

Master bathroom outside walls have been stained. (not painted but stained).

Most all of bathroom is painted.

Walk way wall is stained.

Aug 3: Floors are put in.

Floor is long-leaf-pine (is is over 100 years old).

Aug 4: While floors are sanded, cleaned, and stained. This plastic door cover with zipper is put in place so they can enter and exit.

Aug 7: Stained and two coats of sealer are drying.

Base boards are put in and need painting.

Aug 9: Both vanities are in place with sinks.

Betty's vanity with sink.

Sept: Bathroom is finished.
